It is adjacent to Zhejiang Province in the northeast, Jiangxi Province in the northwest, Guangdong Province in the southwest, and Taiwan Province across the Taiwan Strait in the southeast. The total land area is 124,000 square kilometers.
Fujian Province is located in the traffic hub of the East China Sea and the South China Sea. It is not only the starting point of the Silk Road in Shanghai and Zheng He’s voyages to the west but also the distribution center of maritime commerce and trade.

As of February 2021, there were 11 county-level cities, 42 counties, and 31 municipal districts. The permanent resident population is 39.73 million. According to the results of the seventh national census, the permanent resident population of Fujian Province was 41.54 million.
